Tottenham Hotspur have ‘accelerated’ their interest in Brighton & Hove Albion forward Leandro Trossard, according to Mail Online. The Belgian looks increasingly likely to leave the south coast club this month.

After a disappointing few months in North London that has seen the likes of Heung-min Son and Dejan Kuluseveski fail to reach previous heights, Antonio Conte is eager to bolster his squad during the January transfer window as they continue their aim to finish in the top four. With Trossard’s contract at Brighton set to expire in the summer, the Seagulls could be prepared to part ways with him on the cheap with only six months remaining on his deal.

Trossard has made his mark on the Premier League since joining Brighton from Genk in 2019, scoring 25 goals and providing 14 assists in 121 appearances so far - including a hat-trick in a dramatic 3-3 draw against Liverpool in October. With seven goals to his name this season it comes as no surprise that Spurs are joined by a number of clubs tracking the attacker, with Graham Potter also eager to reunite with him at Stamford Bridge.

While Tottenham will feel they are in a good position to sign Trossard this month, the report claims that any move for the 28-year-old is not imminent and Conte’s side could wait until later in the transfer window to make a bid to sign him. However, this could mean missing out on the transfer if Chelsea or another rival is quick to swoop in before then. The Blues would prove to be very difficult competition to beat for Tottenham, who would surely hold an advantage given Potter’s relationship with Trossard. The West London outfit are also likely to come out on top in any potential bidding war, with new owner Todd Boehly splashing the cash since his arrival last year.
