Brentford are reportedly keen on a loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur wing-back Djed Spence. The Londoner has become the latest name to be linked with the Bees this month with the January transfer window open.

According to The Mirror (08/01, p71, via HITC Sport), Thomas Frank’s side are interested in swooping for him this winter. However, they aren’t the only club in the frame for his signature though with fellow Premier League clubs Wolves and Southampton mentioned along with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.

Spence, 22, only joined Spurs last summer but has struggled to make an impact under Antonio Conte. He has made just six appearances in all competitions since joining, four of which have come in the league, and a temporary exit would help him get some more game time under his belt.

He had a spell as a youngster at Fulham before moving up north to join Middlesbrough. The England youth international went on to play 70 times for Boro altogether but made his name on loan at Nottingham Forest last term and helped the Reds gain promotion from the Championship before his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Brentford could see Spence as someone to add more competition and depth down the right flank ahead of the second-half of the campaign. However, other clubs are said to be targeting him as well so Frank’s side would have to bat away interest from elsewhere if they were to lure him to the Gtech Community Stadium.
