Reporter Fabrizio Romano has revealed on Twitter that ‘discussions’ between Spurs and Sporting Lisbon have been held over the past 24 hours and are set to continue later this week. He adds that the player ‘dreams’ of playing in the Premier League.

Price tag and release clause

Porro, 23, is believed to have a release clause in his contract. The Sun claim his current club are reluctant to let him leave for anything less than £39.9million but Conte’s side hope to reduce that price tag.

Swap deal claim

In an attempt to strike a deal with Sporting Lisbon, Spurs could send a player the other way according to The Mirror. The identity of which individual they would be willing to offload is yet to be known at this stage.

What has been said?

Perro’s current boss Ruben Amorim addressed the defender’s situation earlier this month and said, as per Football London: “With regard to Pedro Porro, we know that there are players in our team who, because of what they have done, are now wanted by other clubs.

“We had this problem in the summer too. What I was told is that he can only leave if the clause is triggered. And if the clause is triggered, there is nothing we can do.

“He is playing really well. Like me, he is living one of the best moments of his career and he is only focused on Sporting. We are prepared for anything and we know that there are clubs who can pay the clause, but, until that happens, I think Pedro is safe.”

Other clubs linked

Other clubs have been linked with Perro this winter. La Liga table toppers Barcelona have been credited with an interest, as per Sport, whilst journalist Simon Phillips has told GiveMeSport that big spenders Chelsea like him along with Kyle Walker-Peters: “Chelsea are looking at him (Walker-Peters) as well as another option, but at the moment, Pedro Porro was the main one that they’re going to try and pursue.”
