Jamie Redknapp has called on Tottenham Hotspur to take action after a supporter appeared to kick out at Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in the aftermath of Sunday’s North London derby.

The Gunners took the honours on Spurs soil for the first time in almost nine years after the England stopper put in a man of the match display. Ramsdale produced several eye-catching saves as he denied the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min to ensure his side stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points.

But Ramsdale was involved in unsavoury scenes after the full-time whistle as he celebrated the Gunners’ win in front of the Spurs fans. The former Sheffield United man went head-to-head to hosts forward Richarlison before the pair were separated by team-mates, the match officials and stewards.

Ramsdale then collected his water bottle from beside the advertising hoarding and appeared to be kicked by a Spurs supporter, who then retreated back to his seat before pitch side stewards could intervene.

Speaking on Sky Sports coverage of the game, former Spurs and England midfielder Redknapp insisted the supporter should be banned from the stadium and urged his old club to ‘act accordingly’.

He said: “It’s completely unacceptable from the Spurs fan. He’s been getting stick all game, as he said, he reacts, he gives a little bit of stick, you can see Richarlison gets involved.

“It’s just part of football, a little bit of stick, but for a fan to come and do that, to try and come and kick a player that has played on the pitch is completely unacceptable. He’s gone to get his water bottle and I am sure that Spurs will act accordingly.

“He shouldn’t be allowed in a football stadium, he should not be allowed and it’s completely out of order and unacceptable.”
