Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea transfer; Barcelona’s price tag, striker’s ‘decision’

Chelsea are on the lookout for forwards this summer, and Pierre-Emerick Auabameyang is being linked.

The Blues have enjoyed a solid start to the season, but they still have gaps in their squad as the deadline approaches.

Thomas Tuchel has had to concentrate on defensive signings to date amid key exits, but Chelsea now need to address the frontline after exits in that department.

Aubameyang is said to be one of Chelsea’s main attacking targets, and with that in mind, we have rounded up the latest.

The initial interest

Chelsea are short of a striker after allowing Romelu Lukaku to return to Inter Milan on loan.

The Blues also said goodbye to Timo Werner, who returned to RB Leipzig, after a mixed two years in West London.

Given Chelsea’s need for a striker, Aubameyang emerged as a possible option, given he may become surplus to requirements at Barcelona due to the signing of Robert Lewandowski.

Price tag

Barcelona are said to want £21million for Aubameyang this summer.

That’s despite the Catalan giants only signing the striker in January and on a free transfer.

According to Toni Juanmarti, Barca are keey to raise a significant fee as they look to ease financial stress, and £21million is the asking price.

Aubameyang is now 33 years of age, so that will be seen as a hefty price by Chelsea.

Auba decision

A fresh report from Gabriel Sans of Mundo Deportivo, via Carpetas Blaugranas, claims Aubameyang has now decided what he wants to do this summer.

It’s claimed the forward does not want to leave Camp Nou this summer, despite having the chance to link back up with former Borussia Dortmund boss Tuchel.

Chelsea are said to have had a £12million bid rejected for the striker, and Aubameyang is far from pushing for a move, keen to prove himself in Catalonia.
