Tottenham star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is in agreement with Graeme Souness over Chelsea’s level.

The Blues came away from Sunday’s London derby with Tottenham with a bitter taste in their mouths following Harry Kane’s 95th minute winner.

But aside from the chaos, Thomas Tuchel was pretty upbeat about his side’s efforts after the game, and he was right to be.

Chelsea looked sharp and impressive, even if they lacked the clinical touch in front of goal that ultimately cost them the win.

After that performance, the Blues will likely enter the title race conversation, and Tottenham star Hojbjerg believes Tuchel’s men are at that level.

“Listen it’s always difficult to come and play against Chelsea because they are a very good team,” he told Sky Sports after the game.

“For me they are the same level as Manchester City and Liverpool, when they are in their flow.

“They really play aggressive and dynamic football and it’s very difficult to stand against.”

Interestinly, some pundits have already tipped Chelsea to make a title run, despite the Blues starting the season with a few gaps in their squad.

Liverpool legend Souness was one of those pundits, saying in July: “Manchester City and Liverpool will be the outstanding favourites but I think you’ve got to factor Chelsea into the argument as well.

“I think Spurs have got a determination and a doggedness about them that I’ve not seen since the early days of Mauricio Pochettino.”

Chelsea will be pleased with the level they are already performing at, but they will need to be sharper in front of goal to outrun the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Tuchel will be looking for a more complete campaign this time around, and he will want to at least close the gap to the top two after last season’s disruptions.

Though, Tottenham are also being tipped to make a run at the top two.
