Arsenal are currently flying high in the Premier League this season, and the north London club will be hoping  to continue that success as they face Aston Villa in a midweek game.

After a thrilling 2-1 win over fellow London club Fulham over the weekend, which saw goals from club captain Martin Ødegaard and Gabriel Martinelli, Mikel Arteta’s in-form team play host to a beleaguered Aston Villa ahead of their weekend fixture.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the game, Arteta said “I watch the Premier League teams and how physical they [Villa] are. Every game here is a battle for everybody, and we don’t expect anything different.”

Despite being 15th in the table, Arteta believes that “Villa are a top team, they have a big squad, top quality players and a good manager, and we expect a difficult game again.”

Steven Gerrard’s men played host to another London side over the weekend, West Ham United, at Villa Park in Birmingham.

It took a 74th minute goal from West Ham’s Pablo Fornals to see David Moyes’ squad beat Aston Villa 1-0, with the long range strike taking a deflection off Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsi to compound issues for the Birmingham club.
