Odegaard, 23, has scored three goals already this term and is way on the way to beating his tally of seven from the last campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side have won all four of their opening Premier League games and sit top of the table.

‘Making things happen’...

The likes of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Jesus have been gaining the plaudits recently, but Wright has picked out Odegaard for high praise.

He has said:

“The captain led by example today with his pressing, his passing, his composure, he was finding space.

“He’s done well, that’s three goals in three games.”

“He’s right in that number one area, making things happen, keeping it going for the boys.

“He was passing the ball into areas where you can hurt them (the opposition). People will say it was fortunate (his goal) but Arsenal deserved that for the way they kept going.

“It was a brilliant performance from them. Great mentality from the boys, Fulham have done very well but I think in the end Arsenal just deserved it.”

What next for Arsenal?

Arsenal are back in league action on Wednesday night at home to Aston Villa as they look to make it five wins on the spin.

They then have an away trip to Old Trafford next weekend to lock horns with a Manchester United side who have won their last two matches under Erik ten Hag.

Odegaard has established himself as a key player in this Gunners team and will be eager to carry on his eye-catching performances.
