Arsenal have been dealt an injury blow with midfielder Mohamed Elneny picking up a knock in their game against Fulham over the weekend.

The 31-year-old stepped in for fellow midfielder Thomas Partey who missed the game due to a muscle injury but picked up an injury himself even though he managed to finish the game.

According to LondonWorld.com’s sources, Egyptian midfielder Elneny will undergo a scan to examine the extent of damage even though he would not be risked against Villa on Wednesday night.

Arsenal have had a brilliant start to the season, winning all four of their Premier League games so far.

Their form is in direct contrast to the way they started last season when they lost all three games before turning things around and going on to challenge for Champions League football.

The weekend’s win over Fulham would have delighted manager Mikel Arteta who saw his team fight from a goal down to win 2-1.

The fact that they were without Thomas Partey, their dynamic midfielder and Oleksandr Zinchenko their left back who is an added midfielder when they have the ball is indication their strength in depth.

Albert Sambi Lokonga who joined the club last season from Anderlecht is likely to be given his first start of the season if both Partey and Elneny are unable to recover in time for the game at the Emirates.

Steven Gerrard’s side are 15th on the Premier League table having picked up just three points from their four games with their manager under increasing pressure to turn things around.
