Sarah Everard’s shocking murder by police officer Wayne Couzens sparked a national conversation about the safety of women and girls.
But in the year since, a woman has been allegedly killed by male violence in London on average more than once a fortnight.

Hide AdAccording to data from campaigning website the Counting Dead Women project, 22 women were killed by men or where a man is the principal suspect in London last year.
While five cases of suspected femicide have been recorded in the capital this year so far.
Here are the names and faces of all the London women who tragically lost their lives, a year on from Sarah Everard’s tragic murder.
Phyllis Nelson
The 76-year-old grandmother was killed in her home in Plaistow, Newham, on March 25 2021.

Hide AdHer grandson Donovan Miller, 30, from Newham, admitted hitting her over the head with a vase, and pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
He will be sentenced on March 28.
Constanta Bunea
The 49-year-old was found dead in the bathroom of her flat in Plumstead, south east London on April 4 2021.
Her husband Vasile Bratu, 40 was high on drugs when he stabbed her to death with a pair of scissors.
Bratu was found guilty by a jury at Woolwich Crown Court in October and was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 21 years.

Hide AdLoretta Herman
Loretta Herman, 85, was found dead in the bathtub of her home in Ilford, Redbridge, on April 9 2021.
A post-mortem examination said the cause of her death was compression to the neck.
Her son, 54-year-old Mark Herman, was arrested and charged with her murder, but later committed suicide whilst awaiting trial.
Maya Zulfiquar
Maya Zulfiquar, 26, from Feltham was strangled and shot in Lahore, Pakistan on May 3 2021.

Hide AdIt is alleged that she had been threatened by men who wanted to marry her.
The law graduate had recently just moved to Pakistan from the UK, two months earlier.
No arrests have been made in connection with her death.
Maria Rawlings
The 45-year-old mother of two was found dead in a shrubbery in Romford, Havering, on May 4 2021.
Maria Rawlings, who suffered multiple injuries, was attacked shortly after she left a hospital where she had gone for treatment following a fall.

Hide AdValentin Lazar, 21, was found guilty of her murder in February and was sentenced at the Old Bailey for at least 23 years’ imprisonment.
Chenise Gregory
On May 4 2021, Chenise Gregory, 29, was stabbed to death by her partner Michael McGibbon, also 29, in a hotel in Harrogate, before he went on to kill himself.
The pair had travelled from south London to stay in the Hilton Majestic Hotel and Spa in North Yorkshire.
Their bodies were found at around 10.20pm by staff at the hotel, who then called the emergency services.
They were both pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Agnes Akom, 20, was reported missing from her home in Cricklewood Broadway on May 9 2021.
Human remains, identified as those of Ms Akom, were found on 14 June.
Lorry driver Neculai Paizan, 63, of Notting Hill, at the time, has been charged with her murder and will appear on trial at the Old Bailey in July.
Ms Akom, a Hungarian national also known as ‘Dora’ moved to the UK in 2018.

Svetlana Mihalachi, 53, died in hospital, five weeks after being attacked in a house with an axe in Barkingside, Redbridge.
Police were called to a property in Princes Road at 2.08pm on Friday, April 9 2021 after reports of an assault.
Ms Mihalachi was found seriously injured and taken to hospital where she died on Wednesday, May 12 2021.
Nicolae Virtosu, aged 47 at the time, of no fixed address, was charged with murder and will appear on trial this year.

A 32-year-old woman was killed at her home on Kingston Road in Ilford on May 13 2021.
Muhammad Ilyas, 40, of Kingston Road, Ilford, said to be known to her, has been charged with her murder.
Peninah Kabeba
Peninah Kabeba, known as Penny, 42, was found dead at home in Cheam, with multiple stab wounds on May 27 2021.
Mohsen Saadi, aged 56 at the time, of no fixed address, has been charged with her murder.

Marlene Coleman, 53, was found with stab wounds by paramedics attending a house in Lewisham on June 16 2021.
She was declared dead on the scene.
Franklin McLeod, aged 54 at the time, of Cressingham Road, Lewisham, has been charged with her murder.
Beatrice Stoica
Beatrice Stoica, 36, was stabbed to death by her ex-husband Stony Stoica in Lordship Lane in East Dulwich on July 23 2021.
Sick Stoica, of no fixed address, was furious that she posted a TikTok video to her 17,000 followers blowing a kiss to her new partner, Inner London Crown Court heard.

Louise Kam
Louise Kam, 71, was last seen alive by a family member in Barnet, on July 26 2021.
Her body was found at an address in Harrow on August 1.
Mohamed El Abboud, 26, of Barnet and Kusai Al Jundi, 23, of Harrow have been charged with her murder.
Bella Nicandro
Bella Nicandro, 76, was stabbed to death in her home in Notting Hill on August 14 2021.

Sharon Pickles
Sharon Pickles, 45, was found dead with an incised wound to her throat at her home in Westminster on August 19 2021.
Lee Peacock, 49, has been charged with her murder and that of 59-year-old Clinton Ashmore who was found murdered at an address in nearby Jerome Crescent the following day.
Peacock, of Harrow Road, has denied murder and will be tried next year at the Old Bailey.

The body of mother of four Helen Anderson was found in undergrowth beside a slip road on the A3 in Guildford on August 23 2021.
Dane Messam, 52, of Henry Road, Hackney, is currently on trial at Guildford Crown Court, accused of the 41-year-old from Finsbury Park’s murder. He denies the charges.
Sabina Nessa
Her body was found covered in leaves, nearly 24 hours later, near a community centre in the park.

Josephine Smith, 88, died due to smoke inhalation following a fire at her home in Queens Park Road, Romford, on October 28.
Kai Cooper, 18, of Leatherhead, Surrey, and a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his age, have been charged with manslaughter and arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.

Kirsty Ashley, 29, originally from Scunthorpe, was found dead in a house in Newham, East London on December 26.
The cause of her death has been given as blunt force trauma.
