Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to take a massive step towards the Last 16 of UEFA’s elite competition this week as they welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to North London.

The German side are level on points with Spurs, having picked up four from their opening three fixtures, and a win for either side will put them in pole position to secure one of the top two places in Group D. After a 0-0 draw the Deutsche Bank Park last week it looks like it could be another close contest and Antonio Conte will have a decision to make about playing club captain Harry Kane.

The striker limped off with an ankle injury late into their 1-0 Premier League victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday but has confirmed that there is no significant damage. However, with so many fixtures coming thick and fast between now and the winter break for the FIFA World Cup it may be the case that the England captain is benched either for this Champions League fixture or for their next Premier League game which is against Everton this Saturday.

As per Premierinjuries.com, Kane’s chances of facing Frankfurt are rated at 75% at the time of publication after he confirmed the ankle injury that forced him off against Brighton was not serious. The 29-year old spoke after the match and said: “The ankle is ok, no twist or anything so I’m pretty sure it’s fine.” Whether or not Conte takes a chance and risks aggravating any potential issue remains to be seen.

Spurs will be without other key players for the match with Dejan Kulusevski, Japhet Tanganga and Lucas Moura all still sidelined. The Swedish winger returned from international duty earlier this month with a muscle problem and it has yet to be confirmed just how long he will be out for.

Moura has not played since the 2-2 Premier League draw with Chelsea in August and a tendon injury is set to keep him out for the foreseeable future. As for Tanganga, he has reportedly suffered another injury and could be set for another spell on the sidelines having previously missed a large period.
