Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion on the south coast.

Spurs were looking to make amends for last weekend’s lacklustre North London derby defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Arsenal, and did so thanks to a smartly-taken Harry Kane header. Antonio Conte’s side now sit third in the Premier League table, just three points behind current leaders Manchester City.

Next up in the top flight is a clash with Everton on Saturday evening, but before then, there is still plenty of Premier League transfer speculation to work through...

Meslier touted as Lloris replacement

Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier could be “the one” to replace veteran goalkeeper Hugo Lloris at Tottenham, according to former Premier League midfielder Charlie Adam.

The Elland Road stopper has been linked with a move to North London before, with Spurs understood to be in the market for a keeper who has the potential to one day take up Lloris’ mantle at the club. The World Cup winner’s current contract expires in 2024.

And Adam has argued that Meslier could be the ideal candidate to pick up where the 35-year-old leaves off.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, the ex-Liverpool talent said: “He’s a young kid that’s had a couple years experience in the Premier League. He’s made mistakes but Bielsa backed him, Jesse Marsch has backed him. And that’s a confidence thing so maybe someone like Meslier could be the one for Tottenham in the future.”

Spurs want Cirkin back

Tottenham have taken a “big interest” in re-signing Sunderland defender Dennis Cirkin, despite having only sold him last summer.

According to The Sun, Spurs are weighing up the prospect of bringing the 20-year-old back to North London after a string of impressive performances in the Championship this term. It is widely understood that the player has a £6 million buy-back clause written into his contract on Wearside.

This latest update suggests, however, that any deal for Cirkin may ultimately prove to be part of an “elaborate move” could see the emerging talent return to the capital, only to be sold on to a rival soon after. Either way, it is stated that Spurs will be keeping tabs on their former academy graduate in the build-up to the January transfer window.
