Tottenham Hotspur are the ‘most concrete’ destination for Franck Kessie this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The midfielder’s contract with AC Milan expires at the end of the season and is likely to leave the San Siro ahead of the next campaign.

According to MilanNews.it, the Ivorian’s future is likely to be away from the Italian capital with Spurs being the most likely destination.

The site adds that Tottenham face competition from Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United for the 25-year-old’s signature, while the idea of him renewing his contract with Milan is ‘least plausible’ option.

Kessie joined Milan from Atalanta in 2019 after coming through the youth ranks of the latter mentioned club. He has been a key player for the San Siro outfit since his arrival, making 209 appearances and scoring 36 goals.

During his tenure with Atalanta, the midfielder spent the 2015-16 campaign on loan at Serie B side Cesena under Massimo Drago. The latter has shared his thoughts on where he sees Kessie playing next season.

Speaking to Calciomercato, Drago believes the Ivorian’s future is in England.

“I am nostalgic, but today there is no longer the possibility, there are too many interests and agents who for each change of team earn almost more than the player. It comes naturally even if perhaps many situations are not coherent,” he said.

“I would see him well in English football. Juve have a bit of difficulty in midfield but I think overseas he can give a little more than what he already gives here in Italy.”

Spurs currently sit eighth in the Premier League, seven points off Manchester United in fourth with three games in hand.
