Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Thierry Small has joined St Mirren on loan from Southampton. The youngster will spend the rest of the season up in Scotland.

According to The Athletic, Antonio Conte’s side have been ‘interested’ in luring the left-back to North London on a permanent basis. However, they failed to agree a fee with the Saints or personal terms with the player.

Small, 18, is being tipped for a bright future in the game and will be looking to show what he can do in the Scottish Premiership between now and the summer. Southampton have given him the green light to depart temporarily to help him get some first-team experience.

Spurs could have seen him as a decent long-term option. However, they will have to look elsewhere for potential reinforcements between now and the deadline.

Small made the move to St. Mary’s in 2021 having previously been on the books at West Brom and Everton at academy levels. He has made one appearance for the Hampshire club and also had a loan stint away at Port Vale last year.

In other Spurs news, Harvey White is poised to join Derby County until the end of the season. Football Insider say he is joining the Rams despite interest from the likes of Barnsley and Oxford United.
