According to reports in Portugal, Sporting want more money and don’t feel that the £ 20 million they agreed with the Spurs is the true valuation of a right-back who has the potential to truly be a world beater.

The whole negotiation has been a nightmare for Spurs, who were told the player had a release clause and then just when they were willing to pay for it, the club then said they had set a valuation in the region of £20 million.

There is a feeling that they now want another five million in addition, even though it is not clear whethr it will be performance related.

As things stand, the deal is now firmly in the balance with Spurs increasingly frustrated by the constant shifting tactics deployed by Sporting.

Pedro Porro is highly rated in European football and was on the books of Manchester City for years before the Premier League Champions cashed in on him.

Antonio Conte has been an admirer of Porro and has told his bosses that the 23-year-old will give them a better chance of catching up with top four football and compete with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.
