Manchester United have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the loan signing of Sergio Reguilon, with an option to end the agreement early in January - according to reports.

United had been seeking to bolster their options at left-back following an injury to Luke Shaw with fears the experienced defender could be sidelined for a number of months with an unspecified muscle injury.

Erik ten Hag’s side had been in talks over a move for Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella with reports claiming a deal broke down when the Blues were unwilling to insert a clause which would allow United to end the loan agreement in January if desired. The Blues had requested a £7m loan fee but appeared willing to come down from that number.

However, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted after Wednesday's Carabao Cup win over Wimbledon the Spaniard was still part of his plans at Stamford Bridge.

“I don’t know anything (about Cucurella),” Pochettino said. “All the players that are involved every day on the training ground with us are in our plans. Then, things happen, it’s the decision of both the club and the player, and if something happens in the next few days, we will communicate to you.”

Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday night the Red Devils had reached an agreement with Spurs for the signing of Reguilon with The Athletic reporting a medical was completed late in the evening. Crucially, it appears, there is an option for United to end the agreement in January.

Reguilon, 26, joined Tottenham from Real Madrid for a reported £32m in September 2020, signing a five-year deal in North London. Madrid reportedly have a £27.5m buy-back clause as part of the agreement to sell him to Spurs three years ago.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Dean Henderson on a long-term deal from Man United. Confirming the signing, Chairman Steve Parish said: “Dean is a fantastic addition to our squad and goalkeeping unit. We have been long-term admirers of Dean’s, following his ascension through the ranks at Manchester United and England, but also his impressive achievements whilst on loan at Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.”

Henderson said: “I’m absolutely delighted and buzzing to be here. I can’t wait to get started. This club has got great fans and has a lot of top players who are hungry to succeed. There’s something being built here, and I really want to be a part of it.”
