St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson is hoping youngster Dylan Reid stays beyond the end of the transfer window amid links to Crystal Palace. The teenage midfielder is being tipped for a bright future in the game and is attracting Premier League attention this winter.

Reid, 17, has been on the books of the Buddies for his whole career to date and has been a regular for them at various youth levels over recent years. He made his debut at the age of just 16 and has since made eight first-team appearances in all competitions.

He was targeted by Celtic last summer but ended up staying put. However, a switch to Crystal Palace may now be on the cards. His boss Stephen Robinson has addressed the transfer talk and has said, as per The National: “I think it is unfair for me to speculate about a 17-year-old kid. There is enough pressure on young boys. He is still a kid. Dylan is a St Mirren player as it stands right now and hopefully that will remain.

“You look at the English Premier League teams and they are probably spending more money on 16 and 17-year-olds than they are on boys at 22 and 23 that are established. They are paying a lot of money for potential.

“It is credit to Allan McManus (St Mirren academy director) and our academy staff that we are getting that interest in our players and in Scottish football as a whole, that it is generating interest from clubs with resources way beyond ours.”

In other news, next up for Crystal Palace is a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United. Goalkeeper Vicente Guaita has said:“It will be difficult. Every game in theory in the Premier League is difficult. Against Manchester United at Old Trafford it will be a big game. Manchester United want to stay near the top of the table – but as Crystal Palace we’ll want to pick up points away from home!”
