Crystal Palace could reportedly explore moves for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence before the end of the January transfer window. It has been a quiet month so far for the Eagles and they have until the deadline next Tuesday to bring in some reinforcements.

According to a report by The Sun, Patrick Viera’s side are ‘keen’ on a loan deal for Spence as they look for a new right-back this winter. They aren’t the only club in the frame though, with fellow Premier League club Leicester City and French side Lyon.

The 22-year-old only joined Spurs last summer but has struggled for game time under Antonio Conte. He spent last term on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough and helped the Reds gain promotion from the Championship.

Loftus-Cheek is a player who Crystal Palace fans know all about from his loan spell at Selhurst Park during the 2017/18 season. It has been no secret that Viera has been keen to sign Conor Gallagher again but could he now turn to his Chelsea teammate?

Journalist Simon Phillips says they have been keeping tabs on the England international along with Leicester and has told GiveMeSport: “There’s been a lot of what’s been described to me as tentative interest in Loftus-Cheek from English and Italian clubs. A few clubs in the Premier League have been taking a look at him, Crystal Palace being one and Leicester City being another, but no approaches have been made yet. It’s just interest on their side as they look at internal targets.”

There is no doubt that Crystal Palace need a bit more depth in their squad and Spence and Loftus-Cheek would both be shrewd additions if they managed to get them. Next up for the Eagles is Manchester United away on 4th February.
