Crystal Palace boss says he knows why one of his stars is underperforming this season-he'll correct it
Crystal Palace are looking for their first league win of the season when they host Tottenham in the Premier League.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has jumped to the defence of midfielder Daichi Kamada, saying he is not too far away from discovering his best form. The Japanese midfielder has come under pressure following what has been an underwhelming start to life in south London.
His slow adaptation to the Premier League has been compounded by the fact that Palace have fallen from the level they were at last season before he joined. Admittedly, they have lost key players, which means those who have come in will need time to reach the required level.
Kamada has played in every league game this season but has only two yellow cards to show for it. However, his manager believes he’s not too far away, based on the evidence of his performance against Nottingham Forest.
He told reporters at the club's training ground at Copers Cope Road: "I think he has adapted—I saw a good game from him at Nottingham. I know him quite well—he puts himself under pressure because he wants to score goals."
Tottenham have won their last two games coming into this one, but there is enough evidence to suggest they are vulnerable and could drop points. The Lilywhites drew away to Leicester before a home defeat to Arsenal followed.
And when everyone thought they had recovered and learned their lessons, they threw away a two-goal lead at Brighton, losing the game 3-2. Palace have looked decent against some of the big teams, as they held Chelsea to an entertaining draw at Stamford Bridge.
They also held Manchester United to a draw, and it took a real howler from goalkeeper Dean Henderson to deny them a point against Nottingham Forest the other day. There is still a feeling that manager Glasner has what it takes to turn things around and get this team to win big matches, as they did at the tail end of last season.
