Crystal Palace predicted team vs Nottingham Forest: two changes and a new system as Oliver Glasner goes for it
The predicted team, injury news and latest update at Crystal Palace ahead of the Nottingham Forest game.
Crystal Palace have a date with destiny on Monday night as they seek their first league win of the season. However, they face a Nottingham Forest side riding high after a 1-1 draw at Chelsea before the international break and generally in better form going into the game.
In the Premier League, nothing is taken for granted, and the Eagles could show the kind of form that saw them finish last season strongly, making them contenders to break into the top half of the league table.
Ange Postecoglou will be tempted to introduce a new system with Eddie Nketiah and Jean-Philippe Mateta likely to play together up top.
Nottingham Forest will be without their manager, Nuno Espírito Santo, for this game. If there’s anything to hold onto, it’s the confidence Palace needs to bring into the match.
Goalkeeper and Defenders
Dean Henderson is the club’s number one goalkeeper, and they will hope he is in form, as winning away in the Premier League requires your most reliable players. The defence will likely include captain Marc Guéhi and Trevoh Chalobah, who arrived from Chelsea. They will also have Tyrique Mitchell and right-back Daniel Muñoz, forming a solid back four. This will be a massive game for the defence, as they need to stop conceding goals.
Midfield
The midfield has been changing from game to game, which has been one of the issues this season. Adam Wharton, who was given a few days off during the international break, will be crucial, as will Eberechi Eze, who has been off form for a while. This opens the door for Jefferson Lerma to join them in what is expected to be a crowded midfield. This part of the Palace team has struggled and needs significant improvement.
Forwards
Eddie Nketiah, signed for a hefty fee this summer, will eventually need to start scoring. What a place it would be for that to begin at the City Ground! Ismaila Sarr finds himself in a similar situation, as he was signed to replace the electric Michael Olise. If there’s one player they want to see back on the scoresheet, it’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was so bright at the end of last season.
Predicted Team:
Henderson; Guehi, Chalobah, Mitchell; Muñoz, Wharton, Lerma, Eze; Sarr, Nketiah, Mateta.
