Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing PSV winger Noni Madueke. The Blues are looking to further boost their squad after landing Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk over the weekend.

According to The Guardian, their £26.5m offer for the attacker remains on the ‘table’. The 20-year-old is an England U21 international.

Madueke, who was born in Barnet, had spells in the academies at Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur before moving to PSV in 2018. He has since broken into their first-team and has fired 20 goals in 80 appearances during his time in Holland in all competitions.

He has highlighted his ambition to move back home which boosts Chelsea’s hopes of getting him and he told Sky Sports last year: “I definitely want to play there next.

“Whether it is this summer or whenever it is, for now, I am focusing on the rest of the season. It is definitely an ambition of mine to play there. I have had a kickstart in my career by playing a lot of games at a young age. I feel like I will be ready for any step I take.”

Madueke also said back in 2021, as per The Sun: “I’m very confident in myself. In my head, there’s no limits to what I can do. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. But I will always back my ability.”

Chelsea could see him as someone to give them more competition and depth in attacking areas. He has the potential to develop in the future and fits in with their recent transfer policy of signing young players with a view to making them better down the line.

The step up from the Eredivisie to the Premier League is a big one but Madueke is someone who at least has some experience of playing in this country from his time at Palace and Spurs as a child. PSV have a big decision to make on whether to sell him having already cashed in on Cody Gakpo to Liverpool this winter.
