Kante was supposed to sign a new deal but the rise of the deals from Saudi Arabia meant he made a U-turn and took the money leaving Chelsea with work to do to build a good team.

The signing of 24-year-old Adams who is the captain of the USMNT is expected to kickstart a busy week for the Blues who have seen offers for Moises Caicedo knocked back by Brighton in the last two months.

Liverpool have attempted to pile up the pressure by also entering in the chase for the Ecuador international who is widely regarded by many as one of the best midfielders in the league.

Tyler, sources say is currently undergoing his medical and should be a Chelsea player by the time they play Liverpool in what is their first game of the 2023/2024 season.
