Tottenham striker Harry Kane wants his future sorted before a ball is kicked in the Premier League - with Bayern Munich keen.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says the decision to leave Harry Kane out of their game against Barcelona has nothing to do with his reports linking him to a move to Bayern Munich.

Kane was absent in what was the club’s final pre-season game before they face Brentford on the Premier League opening day. For large parts, Tottenham looked good and only lost 4-2 after conceding three late goals.

Tottenham have knocked back Bayern’s last three offers, with the latest being close to £90million. They are reportedly returning with a fresh offer but Ange Postecoglou, who has repeatedly hinted he’s looking to build a team that doesn't rely on just one man, said Kane alongside others absence from Barcelona was pre-planned.

He told reporters: “It wasn’t about giving the guys a rest. It was that I wasn’t going to give them game time so there’s no point in them travelling here. They’ll train tomorrow and they’ll train hard tomorrow.”

“It was just that I wanted to use these two games,” he said.

“Our pre-season wasn’t ideal. We had one game cancelled and another game we were supposed to play Roma, so we feel we’re a game or two short and we’ve been using these two games to get as many minutes into the guys as possible, and the guys that stayed at home will work hard tomorrow, and we got minutes into the guys here today.”

Tottenham finished eighth last season but have not hired Ange Postecoglou to replicate Antonio Conte, and will hope they hold on to Kane which will boost their chances of returning to being one of the best teams in the country.
