Chelsea 'scouting' Arsenal and Manchester United transfer target

Chelsea have joined a hotly-contested race to sign a young striker from Serie A in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Joshua Zirkzee is a man in demand - Chelsea are the latest club to register an interest in his services ahead of the summer transfer window, alongside other giants such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus, AC Milan, Roma and Barcelona.

This is according to a report from Corriere Dello Sport [via TEAMtalk]. He isn't the only striker that Chelsea are looking at - they have also been linked with the likes of Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane in recent weeks.

Zirkzee is enjoying a modestly successful season at Bologna so far - he has scored nine goals and has racked up four assists over the course of 24 Serie A games. Additionally, he also notched up a goal and two assists in the Italian Cup earlier in the season.

What would Joshua Zirkzee bring to Chelsea?

By this point, Chelsea fans are most likely sick of being told that their team is in desperate need of a striker. However, this assumption doesn't make the point any less valid - it also raises questions as to why this concern has not been addressed yet, despite the Blues' considerable financial muscle.

Of course, though, it's better late than never. Zirkzee has yet to fulfil his true potential, but he could get the chance to do so at Chelsea - in many ways, they are perfectly suited for each other. The Blues have no problem with creating chances for their forwards - something that an active, tall striker like the former Bayern Munich starlet will relish.

Furthermore, at the age of just 22, he fits the bill as far as Chelsea's transfer policy is concerned. Todd Boehly has a propensity for bringing young, unproven talents to the club - it seems probable that he would take a liking to the prospect of signing Zirkzee.
