Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech will finally leave the club this week after reports that he is on his way to Istanbul to undergo a medical before signing for Galatasaray.

The Moroccan is not part of manager Mauricio Pochettino’s squad and did not make the squad for the Premier League opener against Liverpool. He was also left out of the pre-season tours of the United States with reports that he was one of the players that was closing in on a deal to Saudi Arabia.

According to a report in the Guardian, the winger is on his way to Turkey where he will go through a routine medical checkup before signing a deal.

Chelsea have had problems offloading Ziyech in the past, he saw a move to PSG fall through at the last minutes before reportedly failing his medical with a deal with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr.

Since signing for Chelsea in 2020, Ziyech has made 107 appearances for the club. In those matches, the former Ajax star scored 14 goals and provided 13 assists.

There had been talks also with Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma but non of those deals materialised but a move to Turkey will now be one that Chelsea hope will get him off the wage bill.
