Ray Parlour has been discussing Arsenal’s most likely approach in the January transfer window.

The Gunners have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, sitting top of the table after 13 games, failing to win only two of their games to far and losing just once. Arsenal were not expected to be title contenders this season, but at this stage, their credentials cannot be denied, with Mikel Arteta’s men keeping champions Manchester City at bay so far.

There is still a long way to go in the Premier League season, but belief is building at the Emirates Stadium, even with Man City looking like a near unstoppable force. What could be crucial, though, is Arsenal getting the upcomiing Janaury transfer window just right, with Arteta likely needing cover in certain positions, failing to land a couple of targets at the end of the summer window.

And that’s something former Gunner Parlour has detailed during an apprearance on talkSPORT. He said: “January is going to be important for a lot of clubs. There might be a bit of money there for Arteta to say ‘right, we need another midfielder, we need a Tielemans, or we need a back-up striker to back up Jesus’. I know they have Nketiah, but sometimes you need that extra striker who is going to get you the goals to win the league.”

Speaking about Arsenal’s impressive form this season, Parlour added: “All I can say about Arsenal is that I’m enjoying it. Everyone I have spoken to has said that it’s great, fantastic. A lot people were questioning Arteta. He made big decisions with Aubameyang, Ozil, Mustafi, Kolasinac. That was the first thing he had to do. He did that well.

“Now he has a team that is all together, and that is so important. Everyone is going the same way.”
