Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka forced Sky Sports into an immediate apology as he gave his reaction to Sunday’s crucial win at Chelsea.

The Gunners put in a gritty but controlled display at Stamford Bridge as they returned to the top of the Premier League table after a 24-hour absence. Manchester City’s 2-1 home win against Fulham on Saturday afternoon had seen Mikel Arteta’s men drop to second place but they will end the weekend on the summit after Gabriel’s goal gave them all three points against their London rivals.

Xhaka put in an energetic display in the middle of the pitch as he played in key role in helping his side to a third consecutive win at Stamford Bridge for the first time in their history. But if the Swiss star kept his cool on the pitch, he did allow his discipline to slip after the game as he used an expletive in his post-match interview.

When asked about the celebrations in the away end, the Gunners star side: “You see the atmosphere, it’s f*****g unbelievable.” That forced the broadcaster to immediately apologise for Xhaka’s comment before he resumed his assessment of the performance. The comments can be seen in this video below (warning: contains an expletive)

The Gunners midfielder will hope to make more headlines on the pitch and help his side continue their push for the Premier League title when they visit Wolverhampton Wanderers next Saturday night.
