Player ratings as Arsenal beat Chelsea to return to top of Premier League table at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League table after a brilliant 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, their third straight win at Chelsea’s home for the first time since 1974.
Gabriel Magalhaes made a close contact with a Bukayo Saka corner that beat three Chelsea defenders before finding its way to the back post for the defender to tap in, in honesty, if he’d not touched it, it would have still gone in.
Arsenal were the best side on the day and deserved the lead with 60% possession in the second half despite playing away from home. Thomas Partey as always was fabulous with his passing and control of the game at the heart of midfield.
Mikel Arteta was superb on the touchline in what is a statement win as questions of their Premier League title challenge still persist. Gabriel Jesus has now gone nine games without a gaol but he did everything here with so much hunger and drive while William Saliba continues to exceed expectations at the back.
Granit Xhaka had in the past been the weak link in this team with his temper and passing-but he’s been transformed and at Stamford Bridge, he embodied the spirit and fight that Mikel Arteta has instilled in this team.
Chelsea did put up a few crosses in after the Arsenal goal but in the end, Arsenal were the better side and deserved all three points from west London. Here is how we rated the Arsenal players out there today.
