Arsenal continue attempts to offload striker as they seek new replacements

It’s been one match and one win for Arsenal who are on the hunt for their first Premier League win since 2003/04. Mikel Arteta had expected to have a very busy summer transfer window but it has so far consisted of just one new addition with Riccardo Calafiori heading to N7.

A new striker and midfielder are highly anticipated arrivals in north London but as yet no deals have been confirmed and it appears more likely Arteta will be bidding farewell to some of his stars before he says hello to anymore new ones.

Here is the latest transfer news from the Emirates...

£25m-rated star poised for Premier League stay

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has been on the edge of an Emirates-exit all summer but is yet to finally secure a move. It had been believed he would be moving to Ligue 1’s Marseille but the Gunners reportedly thought the bids were too low.

Edu Gaspar, the club’s Sporting Director, had been criticised by some for letting the deal with the French side fall through but he may yet prove correct as Nottingham Forest have once again emerged as a potential destination for the 25-year-old.

Arsenal’s Premier League rivals previously offered an opening bid of around £25m including add-ons rejected but that appears not to have put them off.

A problem Arsenal had faced in Nketiah’s potential Forest departure pertained to the City Ground club’s pursuit of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez. If Forest were to sign Gimenez, they would not be requiring Nketiah’s signature as well. However, the Gunners have been handed a significant boost in this department as it emerged that the 23-year-old Argentinian wishes to remain within the Eredivisie club.

It was reported by Dutch outlet VI that the Argentinian striker wants to remain at Feyenoord for the next season, meaning a move to Forest has become increasingly unlikely and Nketiah becomes the obvious next choice for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, so long as the two parties agree on a fee.

Striker to reject transfer bids

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is ready to reject any potential transfer offers that come his way as he bids to fight for a place in the Arsenal starting XI.

According to reports from the English press, via TeamTalk, the 27-year-old has no intention of leaving N7 despite the growing links between him and the Saudi Pro League.

Earlier this year, Jesus had been linked with a switch to Italy with both AC Milan and Juventus looking at him. These two clubs have since cooled their interest in the injury-prone Brazilian with clubs in Saudi now ready to bid. It’s been claimed that Saudi clubs are poised to offer £60 million bids to convince the Gunners to sell Jesus and that these sides have also drawn up massive contract proposals. The report does not, however, mention which clubs in the Pro League are set to draw up said proposals.

The former Manchester City star featured 27 times for the Gunners in the Premier League last campaign, scoring four goals and contributing five assists as he battled for the top spot with the likes of Kai Havertz and Eddie Nketiah.
