Aaron Ramsdale’s departure from the Emirates has long been expected following David Raya’s permanent switch to Arsenal earlier this summer and the latest reports indicate this could now come in the final 11 days of the transfer window.
The two goalkeepers had been expected to share the number one spot throughout the 2023/24 season but it soon became apparent that the Spanish stopper would be enjoying far more of the game time, leaving the England international on the bench for much of the campaign.

Hide Ad26-year-old Ramsdale is eager to secure more game time away from N7 and not only has it now been reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘in talks’ to sign the ex-Sheffield United keeper, but appear Arsenal might to have already found a potential replacement if Ramsdale is indeed to make an exit.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported: “Arsenal have already reached verbal agreement with Spanish GK Joan García on personal terms.
“He’s the priority target for Arsenal to replace Aaron Ramsdale if he leaves in final 10 days. Espanyol are aware of Arsenal interest but no official bid yet, depends on Ramsdale.”
Such a move could soon be accelerated with the latest news from Sky Sports which has indicated Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Wolves are ‘exploring’ a potential loan move for Ramsdale, but they could well be facing competition from Dutch giants Ajax who reportedly ‘remain interested’ in the keeper.

Hide AdSky Sports journalists Dharmesh Seth and Lyall Thomas have reported that: “Wolves are in talks with Arsenal over signing goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
“The West Midlands club are exploring a loan with an option to buy. Arsenal want to do a permanent deal or at least a loan that comes with an obligation to buy.
“Ajax remain interested in Ramsdale – they had a loan offer rejected earlier this month. Arsenal are working on potential replacements if Ramsdale was to leave. They have explored the conditions of a deal for Espanyol’s Joan Garcia.”
Garcia, 23, has spent his entire footballing career with Espanyol, enjoying 18 La Liga appearances since moving up to the senior squad in 2021. He reportedly has a €25m (£21.5m) release clause which the Gunners could well trigger in the coming days if a deal with Wolves is agreed over Ramsdale who was bought for £24m from the Blades in 2021.
