Chelsea could raise a further £175.8m to fund £73.4m Joao Felix and Joe Gomez transfers

Chelsea have had another interesting summer, with Enzo Maresca looking to put his own stamp on his squad after landing the job this summer. The Blues lost their Premier League opener to Manchester City, but there were positives to take from the performance.
The Chelsea squad is not yet finalised, either, with more signings and departures likely before the end of the summer transfer window at the end of this month. The Blues have a bloated squad, and if they want to remain within Profit and Sustainability rules, they need to secure exits to balance the books. Reports suggest Joao Felix could be about to arrive for £38.4million plus add-ons, while Liverpool’s Joe Gomez is also being linked, with the Reds reportedly demanding £35million to secure the sale. Here we look at the players who are most likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly set to offload Raheem Sterling this summer with Joao Felix likely to take his place. Sterling likely sees the writing on the wall as far as first team opportunities go, and it’s reported by The Daily Mail that Juventus are currently the most interested club.
Though, the Turin giants likely need to offload some players this summer to be able to afford Sterling’s wages. Federico Chiesa may well be a key part in any possible deal, with the winger currently up for sale. There have been reports that Sterling is determined to win over his boss and the Chelsea fans, but competition is rife amid the arrival of Pedro Neto and now potentially Felix. Transfermarkt put Sterling’s value at £29.8million but it’s unclear how much Chelsea would demand.
Trevoh Chalobah
Chalobah has been cast aside by Enzo Maresca, who said after leaving the defender out of his pre-season plans for USA: “First of all, from my point of view, it’s always sad to leave players out, that can be out of a pre-season, or can be out of the squad or out of the first eleven because in the end they all work for the same target, that is to be part of the same team.
“The Trevoh situation for me is quite clear, we have Axel there, we have Tosin Adarabioyo there, we have Wes Fofana who in these two weeks has worked very good and is finally back, we have some very young profiles like Josh Acheampong who is doing fantastic. It’s a sad decision but we have to take the decision.”

Conor Gallagher
The transfer saga of the summer has surrounding Conor Gallagher and his likely move to Atletico Madrid. The Spanish giants have spent big this summer but they are still looking to add Gallagher on a reported deal worth £35million upfront plus add-ons.
A medical is already said to have been completed but the deal is on hold with the two clubs yet to fully agree on a deal. It’s expected that Joao Felix to Chelsea could kick-start a deal with Atletico getting a financial boost.
Kepa Arrizabalaga
Kepa’s future is very uncertain at this stage, with the unwanted goalkeeper having hoped for a permanent move to Real Madrid, where he spent last season on loan. Los Blancos look to be covered, and they are not likely to fork out a big fee to land Kepa.

Hide AdChelsea are set to want to recoup around £21million from Kepa having paid more than £70million to bring him to the club. The Blues may struggle to find a buyer, with a loan deal the most likely. If that is the case, the Blues will want to include some sort of purchase clause.
Romelu Lukaku
Lukaku is another big investment Chelsea are preparing to take a loss on. The Blues spent around £100million to re-sign him, but he will depart for £35million. Napoli are the club with the most interest, and the striker is reportedly specifically waiting for a move to the South of Italy.
The transfer may depend on Victor Osimhen’s movement, although recent reports have suggested that a Lukaku deal is not too far away.
Armando Broja
Broja has not convinced Maresca and looks to be set for the exit door. According to recent reports from East Anglian Daily Times, newly promoted club Ipswich Town are in talks over a possible loan deal.

Hide AdChelsea are said to want as much as £30million to sell Broja permanently. They may well receive a permanent offer, but Ipswich are pushing to add to their signing of Omari Hutchinson with the loan signing of Broja, potentially including a purchase option. A mandatory option to buy is not likely in Ipswich’s case due to the natural lack of certainty over their Premier League future following promotion.
