Arsenal are reportedly interest in securing the services of Aston Villa goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar. This news comes nearly a week after their 4-0 win over the Villans in which Aston Villa's Anna Leat let four goals in the back of the net with Stina Blackstenius scoring a first-half hat-trick and Frida Maanum joining her on the score-sheet to hammer in the final nail of the coffin.

However, Jonas Eidevall's side continue their interest in the club with noise growing around a potential bid for the 24-year-old Dutch star. Aston Villa would be hopeful of securing £200,000 for the player who signed a three-year contract with Villa last summer.

Reports from The Telegraph also indicate that the Gunners' interest in Manchester United's Mary Earps have 'cooled' down making it sensible for them to target a younger player for a long-term stay at the Emirates and Meadow Park side. Last summer, Eidevall's side put in a bid for the Lioness heroine but it was rejected with the Red Devils announcing the 31-year-old goalkeeper was not for sale. Eight months on, Earps's contract expires this summer and now decision about her future has been made.

As for the Netherlands goalkeeper, van Domselaar has a £200,000 release clause in her contract and she player in all five of her country's matches at last summer's World Cup run to the quarter-finals. She joined the WSL side last June from FC Twente and has previously stated how happy she is with the side.

Speaking to the press, the 24-year-old admitted: "I am really happy with my choice to join Aston Villa and join the WSL, which is the best league in the world. There's a lot of potential in the team and I'm happy where I am right now. It's a good team."

Van Domselaar has featured in 14 WSL fixtures, conceding 28 goals and keeping two clean sheets - far from a phenomenal season but it is her international consistency that has supposedly caught the attention of the Emirates club.

It is currently not known whether van Domselaar would feature as a number two to Austrian star Manuela Zinsberger who whether she would become the number one.
