Arsenal's next six Premier League games compared to Liverpool after Reds suffer new injury blow

Arsenal are eight points behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race, with a game in hand.

Arsenal’s title chances took a slight boost this week as rivals Liverpool dropped points by drawing 2-2 with Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The Gunners are eight points behind Arne Slot’s side but they now have a game in hand. They face West Ham at the weekend, and could close the gap to just five points with a win at the Emirates.

Arsenal have seen a lot of injury problems this year with Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus all currently out injured for Mikel Arteta’s side. It meant that the Arsenal boss had to play the likes of Leandro Trossard and Mikel Merino as a striker to make up for it.

However, Liverpool have now received an injury blow in the form of defender Conor Bradley who went off during their draw against Villa. In a press conference on Thursday, Slot said: “We don’t know yet but I would be completely surprised if he is involved in the Sunday game or the Wednesday game against Newcastle. So you can assume that’s not going to happen.”

Liverpool’s next six games

The Reds are currently heavy favourites to win the league, and it is their title to lose. However, they do have some tricky fixtures coming up in their next six matches. They face Manchester City at the weekend, who are desperate to at least salvage a Champions League place out of what has been a poor season for Pep Guardiola’s side.

After that, they play Newcastle United on Wednesday night, in what will be a pre-cursor to the Carabao Cup final after the Magpies beat Arsenal 4-0 on aggregate in the semi-final.

Liverpool then face an easier game against relegation-battling Southampton at the start of March, which they would be expected to win. Following that, a Merseyside derby against Everton awaits at Anfield.

They then play against two London teams as they make the trip to play Fulham on April 5, before hosting West Ham the following weekend. It is a tough games for the Reds, with the City and Newcastle fixtures singled out as really big tests.

Arsenal’s next six games

Liverpool end their next six games against West Ham, whereas Arsenal play the Hammers this weekend at the Emirates. After that, Arteta’s side have a huge test against Champions League-chasing Nottingham Forest, who are the only team to beat Liverpool in the Premier League this season.

For their first game in March, Arsenal will renew an old rivalry as they head to Old Trafford to play against a Manchester United side who are 15th in the Premier League. The Gunners would be expected to win that one as the Red Devils face a host of injury problems.

The following week, Arsenal have another tough game against Chelsea, who are also chasing a Champions League spot under Enzo Maresca. They then, similarly to Liverpool, play against Fulham at the start of April (which will be their game in hand), before heading to Goodison Park against Everton on April 5.

One game to earmark after that will be the third-to-last game of the Premier League season when Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield in what could be the title deciding match.
