I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here fans have taken to social media to speculate why Sue Cleaver is exempt from tonight’s Bushtucker trial.

In last night’s episode, Ant and Dec announced to the campmates that two of them would be going head to head in a trial named La Cucaracha Cafe.

The presenting duo added that Sue Cleaver,59, from Manchester, who plays Eileen Grimshaw on Coronation Street, would be exempt from the trial and viewers would not be able to vote for her.

The challenge will see campmates go head to head in the first eating trial of the series. They will have to eat an array of bugs including cockroaches and fish eyes without being sick.

Ant and Dec revealed that the public had voted for former Health secretary Matt Hancock and singer Boy George to complete the task.

However, many unhappy viewers have taken to social media to question why Sue was exempt from the trial.

One wrote: “Is there any point to Sue Cleaver being in the jungle? She’s been exempt from every challenge so far!! Nobody should be exempt from the eating one, if you can’t do it, don’t go”.

Another tweeted: “So Snakey Sue Cleaver is exempt from the eating challenge. Why am I not surprised?

ITV has not officially confirmed the reason why Sue is exempt but one eagle-eyed fan noticed the possible reason why she wouldn’t be able to do the trial.

The Twitter user wrote: “ Does Sue Cleaver have diabetes? I thought I spotted an insulin arm patch on her and now she’s exempt from the eating trial”.

Sue was treated for Type 2 Diabetes after she collapsed on the set of Coronation Street in 2011. Viewers have praised the actress for normalising Diabetes and not hiding the patch as if it were something to be ashamed of.

According to the NHS website “Type 2 diabetes is a common condition that causes the level of sugar (glucose) in the blood to become too high.”

Excessive thirst, frequent urinating and tiredness are among symptoms, however it can also increase the risk of getting serious problems with eyes, heart, and nerves.

The condition can be managed with medicine, regular check-ups and diet changes.

Speculation about Sue’s health comes after viewers thought they spotted her on what looked like a mobile phone in camp a few days ago. All campmates have to give up mobile phones and other devices before entering camp.

Although this was not the case and just an optical illusion as to where the camp lights were, it made it look as though she was holding a phone.
