I’m A Celeb: Boy George is blasted by fans after calling Charlene White ‘controlling’ for giving cooking advice

Boy George has been criticised by I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! viewers for his comments about Charlene White.

The pop icon, 63, from Bexleyheath, called out the television presenter, 42, from Greenwich, for being “controlling” during last night’s episode. He claimed Charlene was being bossy when it came to cooking in camp, after the celebrities were given kangaroo sausages for dinner.

“Slice them small and stir fry them with the spring onions,” Charlene told one of her fellow campmates.

Boy George vented about the ITV News presenter directly to viewers in the Bush Telegraph.

Boy George said: “It’s so weird, that bag comes down and Charlene just turns into an entirely different person. It’s amazing, she just issues orders and tells everyone what to do. I’m like, ‘Wow’. You know, it’s like, ‘Who are you?”

Whilst other campmates thank Charlene for her instructions in the kitchen and help to clean up after dinner, Boy George told presenter Scarlett Douglas: “I just feel like Charlene is very controlling. She tells you what to do and it really rubs you up the wrong way.”

The Karma Chameleon singer has since been criticised on social media by viewers, with many arguing that he should just be “grateful” for the food.

Posting on Twitter, one wrote: “Why is boy george crying about how Charlene get the cooking done? Just be grateful you have food like #ImACeleb”

Another claimed that they would “be grateful” for the food that “Dame Charlene is cooking for everyone”, if they were in the jungle and said Boy George is “acting horrible”.

Many I’m a Celeb fans agreed that someone needs to take control, with one viewer saying: “Charlene is just right taking control”.

Another commented: “Boy George bitching in the hut about Charlene taking control, yet I don’t see him stepping up, someone’s got to take control.”

Boy George is rumoured to be the highest-ever paid contestant on the hit ITV reality show, with the pop icon expected to earn close to £900,000 for his appearance.

Prior to this, Deal or No Deal host Noel Edmonds was believed to be the highest-paid celebrity, earning around £550,000 for his 2018 appearance.
