Dancing on Ice 2023: Vanessa Bauer’s dating history as she’s reportedly dating skating partner Joey Essex

Vanessa Bauer and Joey Essex have been rumoured to be dating after being seen kissing backstage at Dancing on Ice.

The Only Way is Essex star, 32 from Southwark has been linked to his German dancer, 26, since he was announced for the show in October.

A source told The Sun that the couple had been ‘flirting’ in rehearsals, saying: “Joey and Vanessa have grown close incredibly quickly.

“Right now they have managed to keep everything professional but it’s safe to say they are both super flirty.

“They are going to spend a lot of time together over the next few months due to rehearsals so it’s easy to see how romance could blossom.

“Joey is hoping to invite her to Essex for a night out with his mates and drinks at his.”

Joey Essex and Vanessa Bauer have been questioned heavily by Dancing on Ice hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about the nature of their relationship.

The Only Way is Essex star is skating with Vanessa on Dancing on Ice with rumours growing that the pair are together.

Joey ‘confirmed’ the relationship on week three of Dancing on Ice, after being pressed by Holly Willoughby as to whether they were together.

Holly Willoughby pressed the couple on Sunday night when she asked: “You were like a real life Sandy and Danny” out there. Have you got something you want to tell us, you two?”

Joey then told the hosts: “Danny and Sandy are getting on pretty well” as he looked at his skating partner Vanessa before adding: “If you know what I mean?” before winking at the audience.

Wes Nelson

Vanessa Bauer was previously linked with Love Island’s Wes Nelson after the couple came second on Dancing on Ice in 2019.

The German dancer split up with her boyfriend just before the start of the series, while Wes Nelson also split with fellow Love Island contestant Megan Barton-Hanson.

As they both became single, rumours began spiralling about a budding relationship.

Insiders told tabloids that the pair had an instant attraction but Wes chose not pursue a serious relationship with the skater as “he is the man of the moment”.

Jake Quickenden

In 2018, Vanessa Bauer was linked with singer and footballer Jake Quickenden after performing together on the show.

Shortly after the couple won Dancing on Ice, Jake and his girlfriend Danielle Fogarty split, with the singer insisting it had nothing to do with the show.

Jake recently told the MailOnline: “I think everyone goes through relationship troubles, it happens when people are away from home, they break down every day but when it is seen in the public eye there’s always something sinister to it.

“I don’t believe in curses, I think it only happens if you go in with an open mind of falling in love with your partner, but I just wanted to win.”

Rory McCall

Vanessa Bauer and personal trainer Rory McCall began their relationship in 2019.

The German dancer posted several photos of the couple enjoying holidays and attending events together across her social media.

Vanessa and Rory split in June 2021 after dating on-and-off for two years. They reportedly ended their relationship mutually and have remained on good terms.

Louis Nathaniel

Vanessa previously dated circus performer Louis Nathaniel before splitting up in 2019, just days before her first performance on Dancing on Ice with Wes Nelson.

The couple first met in 2016 whilst they were both working for Royal Caribbean Cruises.

When they separated Louis told The Sun: "Vanessa has changed from a naive young girl to this confident boss woman and I can’t imagine us ever getting back together.”

He explained that they wanted to pursue different career paths with Vanessa focused on Dancing on Ice, while he wanted to move abroad for a job opportunity.

“She was never going to quit her job on Dancing on Ice and I wouldn’t have expected her to. When I’m in the same country I trust her, but being in a different country I wasn’t sure how it was going to pan out,” he added.
