Dancing on Ice 2023: Davide Sanclimenti admits he’s ‘glad’ girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu got eliminated

Davide Sanclimenti has revealed he is “glad” girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu was eliminated from Dancing on Ice following the star being trolled since week one.

Ekin-Su, 28, from Islington faced public backlash following her first performance that was deemed too “racy” and not appropriate pre-watershed.

Davide admitted that he’s looking forward to spending some alone time together, after Ekin-Su revealed she had not had a day off in months since winning Love Island.

Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu met on the ITV dating show last summer and went on to be announced as the winners.

The reality star spoke to the Daily Star where he said he could see his girlfriend was “getting emotional” from the stress of the show.

He then added that he thought his girlfriend was getting too “emotionally involved” in the programme and that the couple hadn’t had “much time” together since leaving the Love Island villa.

Davide said he was “glad” that Ekin-Su was done with the figure skating competition, so that the couple could now look forward to “new things”.

The Italian businessman was very vocal in supporting his girlfriend during the show and even appeared during her final skate.

He admitted that he was surprised that Ekin-Su had been eliminated so early into the competition

Davide said he “didn’t expect” his girlfriend to be eliminated after watching her progress during the show and watching how much training she was partaking in.

The reality star, dubbed The Italian Stallion by fans, said he believed it wasn’t “fair” that Ekin-Su was eliminated from Dancing on Ice on week four.

Since leaving the figure skating contest, Ekin-Su has revealed she is feeling “strong” and “ready for a holiday”.

During an episode of her podcast Reddit Talk with Ekin-Su and Joe Garratt, the reality star shared how she was coping following the elimination.

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu told the host: “I’m strong. I’m absolutely fine. Yes I cried, I was upset. You know I’m human and I think that people always thought in Love Island I was always strong but I felt like all my fans and people, the viewers expected me to be strong all the time, but it’s not like that, I cared, that’s why I cried.

“I gave everything to that show and I had other commitments and I was juggling everything at the same time. And I know everyone else has commitments, but I had no days off at the time.

“And for that like just being gone was like ‘oh my god, that thing’s gone now’. But the show has made me really really strong. Love Island made me strong. Dancing on Ice made me even stronger. So I’m just very very grateful for that.

The couple are now enjoying a holiday away together for Valentine’s Day as they spend some time in the Maldives.

Ekin-Su and Davide have been sharing posed photos of their holiday as they enjoy their time in the sun.

Davide has also shared that there was an attempted break in at his home he shares with Ekin-Su.

The reality star shared a photo of men standing outside the couple’s flat impersonating maintenance men in an attempt to gain entry to their apartment.
