‘Calculated’ sex attacker kept student hostage in her flat during 12-hour ordeal

A “cold and calculated” sex attacker followed a student into her building and kept her hostage during a “harrowing” 12-hour ordeal.
Troy Maurice, 29, of Beaudesert Road, Birmingham, was convicted of two counts of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, two counts of sexual assault and false imprisonment.

Hide AdHe was sentenced to six years in prison and three years on licence at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, November 11.
In late March and early April 2022, Maurice stalked a central London student campus, tailgating students to their accommodation.
He followed one victim into a laundry room and waited for it to empty before sexually assaulting her.


On a second occasion he followed a victim to her halls of residence, before entering the building and pushing her into her flat.

Hide AdHe subjected her to a series of sexual assaults and attempted to bully her into having sex with him.
The victim fended Maurice off throughout the harrowing ordeal, which lasted over 12 hours.
Met Police officers were informed and linked the incidents and Maurice was identified, arrested and charged.
DC Ben Salmon, investigating, said: "Both victims showed considerable courage and bravery following these incidents, which were incredibly frightening for them both.
"Maurice’s behaviour was cold and calculated and I believe the public will be all the safer with him behind bars."
