London Marathon 2022: Famous landmarks runners will pass during this year’s race through the capital
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
Racers in this year’s London Marathon event will get a glimpse of some of the capital’s most famous landmarks as they skim around the city on foot.
The gruelling 26-2mile route remains largely unchanged since the inaugural event in 1981 - but it continues to encompass many of the city’s most mesmerising sights, both old and new.

Hide AdFamous historic sites such as The Tower of London and Big Ben can be seen en route, as well as new, shiny landmarks like the skyscrapers at Canary Wharf.
Thousands of runners are due to take off from Blackheath on October 2 for the 42nd edition of the race before hitting the finish line at Buckingham Palace.
It is the third and final autumn Marathon event due to the Covid pandemic and will be returning to the usual spring slot in 2023.
Crowds are also expected to flock to the capital on race day to cheer on their loved ones along the famous route.
Landmarks to look out for:
- Mile 6: Cutty Sark
- Mile 12: Tower Bridge
- Mile 18: Canary Wharf skyscraper
- Mile 22: Tower of London
- Mile 25: London Eye (on opposite Embankment)
- Mile 25: Big Ben
- Mile 26: Buckingham Palace
