We’re edging closer to the festive season, with loads of iconic events kicking off in London this weekend.

With Winter Wonderland and Christmas at Kew Gardens opening, the capital’s Christmas season is underway.

From food festivals to light displays, we’ve picked out some of the best events happening in London, this weekend November 19 to 21.

Taste of London festival

For food lovers, check out Taste of London at Wapping’s Tobacco Dock.

Wander around sampling dishes including lamb shoulder roti from Sri Lankan restaurant Hoppers, award-winning Cut + Grind Burgers or the very best tiramisu from Cin Cin.

Nothing gives off rom-com winter in London vibes more than ice skating at the iconic Somerset House.

The magnificent ice rink transforms the neoclassical courtyard into the essential winter destination, complete with a glorious 40-foot Christmas tree.

There will also be the usual skate lates with DJs, as well cheering après-skate options, including Hotel Chocolat’s chocmobile and Moët & Chandon fizz.

This year’s festival includes ice skating, ice sculpting workshops, a ferris wheel and delightful Christmas markets.

For thrill seekers and dare devils, there are a number of rollercoasters and fairground rides, including the world’s largest transportable rollercoaster, the Munich Looping.

For those fancying a tipple there are plenty of themed bars to choose from including the Fire Pit, the Explorer’s Rest and Thor’s Tipi, which all have open fires.

Seven Dials Winter Festival

Seven Dials, Camden From November 19 to 21 Free

This weekend, will see the Seven Dials area taken over by festive shopping, free events, workshops and masterclasses and a three-day line-up of live music and Christmas entertainment.

Visitors can marvel at Neal’s Yard arch which has been illuminated and revel in several interactive live installations.

This year’s festival is supporting the Young Camden Foundation, which addresses issues such as digital poverty, youth safety, and mental health.

Christmas at Kew

Kew Gardens, Richmond, TW9 3AE November 17 to January 9 Tickets Off Peak £21.50, Peak £26.50

Christmas at Kew Gardens opens this weekend which features sparkling tunnels of light, dancing waterside reflections, and trees drenched in jewel-like colour that lead to the panoramic Palm House light display.
