With the season getting to what is known as the ‘business end’, every point and leg will be vital, which may lead to some of the best darts of the season being played, with plenty of drama still to unfold.

What is the Cazoo Darts Premier League?

The Cazoo Darts Premier League puts the top eight players in the darting world together in a league, all battling to lift the coveted trophy.

Welshman Jonny Clayton is the current holder, and is giving a good account of himself in this year’s edition, which has had a big shake up.

A new format has been introduced for this year’s campaign, and has been met with great plaudits from pundits, players and fans.

The new format ensures players can no longer draw with each other, and sees a new way of people winning every week.

Each week, three quarter finals are held, two semi-finals and a grand final. Each game is a quick fire first to six.

As it is the Premier League, it is done on a points based system. Five points go to the winner, three to the runner-up and two to the semi-finalists - to form the league table from which the top four players will progress to the Play-Offs.

When is the Premier League coming to London?

The likes of Gerwyn Price, James Wade, Michael Smith and more will be heading to London to compete at The O2 Arena on Thursday, 19 May 2022.

Michael Van Gerwen survived a brief comeback from Joe Cullen to book his semi-final place along with Michael Smith, who comfortably dispatched former World Champion Gerwyn Price.

The last player to secure a semi-final place was Jonny Clayton, who beat James Wade.

Jonny Clayton then went on to secure his fourth victory, and extend his lead at the top of the table. Along with his victory, Clayton became the first to guarantee a spot in the play-offs in Berlin.

He beat Michael Van Gerwen in the final, with both players averaging over 100 for large parts of the final.

The turning point came as Clayton capitalised on a mistake from the German, who missed D10 to level it at 4-4, with Clayton holding on to strengthen his grip on the number one spot.
