West Ham United star Michail Antonio has extended an olive branch to Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison to end the duo's high-profile feud.

The Hammers striker had been told by Brazilian teammate Lucas Paqueta that Richarlison would refuse to shake his hand when the sides meet in December after comments made on the BBC Sounds' Footballers' Football Podcast.

Antonio had previously laughed alongside Newcastle United co-host Callum Wilson about Richarlison taking off his shirt to celebrate scoring for Spurs, only to have the goal ruled off for offside and joked about the striker's lack of goals since moving to Spurs.

Even after being told of Richarlison's reaction to the comments, Antonio labelled the reaction to his 'banter' as 'touchy' and maintained that Spurs 'need to sign a striker'.

Antonio had previously said: "I am no longer commenting on Richarlison. It's got to the stage where I just feel like some people are a bit touchy. Obviously, I'm not going to speak about the person who is in the position, I'm just going to say Tottenham need to sign a striker and I'll leave it at that.

"I've gone to Paqueta, obviously they play with each other [for Brazil]. I was like, 'What's wrong with your boy? It's a bit of banter, I don't understand why he's taking it so personally', to the stage where his manager has to talk.

"Lucas is like, 'It's just how he is Michy. I told him that's how you are but he says 'no, no no, when we play against them, I'm not going to shake his hand.'"

Earlier this week, following Brazilian national team duty, Richarlison shared that he would seek 'psychological help' when back in the UK to help boost his form and deal with growing criticism from some supporters.

Antonio has now added his support for the star. Speaking on this week's podcast, he said: "I need to say it. Richarlison. He's come out and he has said he is going to get psychological help for his performances.

"Honestly, every player that plays football does not lose their ability. They always have it, it's like riding a bike. Not performing, it's because mentally, something is affecting you. Something in your mind is blocking your performance. You naturally can do it. Him coming out and being so brave saying that, it's unbelievable."
