Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill is reportedly subject to a lot of interest from top clubs as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season at the Championship club. West Ham and Fulham are both said to be keen on signing the 28-year-old who the Hammers had previously targeted in January 2020 when he initially signed for Burnley from Bristol City for £8.3m.
According to the Boot Room, West Ham are in the mix to land the midfielder alongside Fulham and Brighton in the Premier League after what has been a strong start to the season in the Championship for Brownhill who has five goals and one assist in 15 games for Burnley. Due to his contract expiration, Brownhill will be able to enter into a pre-contract agreement with any interested club meaning he will join in the summer for free. However, Burnley may decide to try and sell him in January so as to get some money back for the £11m-rated midfielder.

He told the Daily Star: “My heart was set on Burnley, West Ham is a big club as well but, in January, Burnley were a lot safer in the table. For me, it was about being in the Premier League and Burnley just ticked every box.”
With the Clarets now in the Championship, it could be time for Brownhill to finally make a move back to the Premier league and maybe swap which claret and blue club he plays for with a move to West Ham.
Premier League clubs face European competition to sign Brownhill
The midfielder hasn’t just attracted interest in the Premier League however as the report suggests that several teams from across Europe are also keen to land the 28-year-old. Serie A clubs Torino, Fiorentina and Lazio are reportedly ready to put down a contract offer for the midfielder.
Furthermore, Scottish sides Rangers and Celtic also remain interested in Brownhill but could struggle to compete financially with the Premier League clubs to sign him. Championship side Leeds United also hold an interest, but it is less likely that Brownhill will move to a fellow second-tier team.
