Newcastle United vs West Ham team news with 3 doubts and 5 outs as Magpies man suffers 'freak accident'
Newcastle United have been handed an update on a player’s ‘freak accident’ ahead of hosting West Ham at St James’ Park.
West Ham will travel to Newcastle Untied as the underdogs on Monday night after an unconvincing run of form in the Premier League for Julen Lopetegui's men.
A draw against Everton before the break provided the smallest respite for the former Wolves boss, who is in desperate need of wins to silence growing calls for change after just months in charge of the outfit.
Any chance of getting a result against the Magpies next week is boosted by the hosts' injury problems. Here's your Newcastle United vs West Ham team news.
Newcastle United team news
Eddie Howe has had to become used to picking his squads without the availability of several first team stars after a torrid recent history of injuries on Tyneside.
Kieran Trippier hasn't played a Premier League match since the 0-0 draw with Everton in October due to a hamstring injury. The full-back was said to need a 'few weeks' away from action, which could point to an imminent return.
Also at the back, Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles remain long term absentees with knee injuries and haven't played this season. It's looking likely that Callum Wilson could finally return from his fitness woes against West Ham, despite not making the training camp in Saudi Arabia over the break.

Elsewhere, Emil Krafth suffered what NewcastleWorld call a 'freak accident' ahead of the Nottingham Forest clash and further assessment of his collar bone has ruled the defender out until the New Year. Dan Burn is suspended after accumulating too many yellow cards.
Doubts - Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson. Outs - Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, Dan Burn, Emil Krafth.
West Ham team news
West Ham should have just one injury blow as they make the long trip to the North East on Monday night. That is in the continued absence of summer signing Niclas Fullkrug.
The striker, who cost £27.5 million from Borussia Dortmund, has managed just 63 minutes in the Premier League so far this season thanks to an Achilles injury. Having flown back to Germany for treatment, the forward is back in London and beginning to train on grass but it would be a surprise to see Fullkrug in the matchday squad next week.
The Hammers continue to be without the influential Mohammed Kudus. The winger was sent off against Tottenham Hotspur last month and saw a three match ban extended to five games for violent conduct.
The Ghana international will also miss out against Arsenal next weekend before a potential return against Leicester City at The King Power Stadium next month.
Doubts - Niclas Fullkrug. Outs - Mohammed Kudus.
