West Ham manager David Moyes has charged star forward Jarrod Bowen to continue scoring the goals, after his strike gave the Hammers hope against Lyon on Thursday night.

Bowen has two goals in his first two games after returning from injury, the second, a pivotal one that gave the Irons a lead against Lyon in the Europa League before Tanguy Ndombele got the leveller for the French side.

Manager David Moyes, who has turned his attention to the Premier League game against Brentford, says he is expecting the young English forward continue firing on all cylinders.

The West Ham boss said: “We’ve needed him. We missed his goals when he wasn’t here and since he’s come back he’s got us a couple of important goals.

“He’s played well for someone who’s just come back, we need that to continue and for him to keep scoring those goals.”

West Ham will have very little time to prepare for Brentford, who come into the game almost safe for another season and very high on confidence having just beaten Chelsea 4-1.

The Bees have had a whole week to prepare, while West Ham spent 45 minutes with 10 men in Thursday night’s European clash against Lyon.

Moyes though said he would not change their current schedule for anything, despite the Europa League being very demanding and having quick turn arounds.

He added: “I think the quick turnaround makes it difficult, but I have to give great praise for how the players have coped with it.

“From our point of view, we were able to cope earlier on because we split the team quite often in the early rounds.

“Everyone stood up for us and got us results. That helped us in the early months of the season.

“Now we’re in the knockout rounds, you’re having to play all your main players to get results and that’s where it takes its toll. But we’re still in there fighting and enjoying it.

“We want to stay in Europe and to be there we have to perform well in the Premier League.”
