West Ham 1-1 Lyon: Player ratings, heroes and villains as 10-man Hammers battle to a draw at home

West Ham are still alive in Europe despite playing the second half with 10 men against Lyon.

The deciding moment of the game came after Aaron Cresswell brought down Moussa Dembele, who looked to be through on goal, and the referee wasted little time in showing him the red card.

Jarrod Bowen then put the Hammers in-front before on-loan Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele scored to level the game for the visitors.

In the end, both teams had to settle for a draw with the game still in the balance ahead of the second leg in Lyon next week Thursday.

Heroes

Michail Antonio - The striker started the game brilliantly, winning almost every aerial ball and setting the tone for a compact first half before the Cresswell sending off changed the game for the home side. Still played his role in helping the team both in defence and attack.

Jarrod Bowen - What a signing he’s been, took his goal and helped the defensive shape of the team at a time his team needed it most. Looked dangerous whenever he was on the attack.

Villains

Said Benrahma -  Was electric whenever he was on the ball but his end product was missing and slightly unfortunate to be sacrificed after the Cresswell sending off.

Jerome Boateng - Played a role in the West Ham goal and even though he is one of the experienced members of the Lyon team, he just never got going and was sacrificed for a change of system as Lyon went in search of authority in the game.
