Colchester United have signed Jayden Fevrier following his departure from West Ham.

The midfielder was released by the Hammers at the end of last season and has since been weighing up his options in the game.

Fevrier, 19, has been on trial with the U’s over recent times and has done enough to land himself a deal with the League Two club.

As announced by their official club website, he has penned a contract until the end of the current campaign and will initally link up with their U21s squad.

‘No-brainer’...

He has said:

“I left West Ham in the summer, looking for a new challenge and a new opportunity, and the move to Colchester arose with Dmitri (Halajko, Sporting Director) being my old coach. It was a no-brainer to come here.

“I’ll be looking to be exciting on the ball, looking to score and get assists, and hopefully impact the team in a positive way. I’m still adapting to the level, but I’m enjoying playing my football, and it’s a really good squad and good coaches.”

Fevrier rose up through the academy ranks at West Ham and was a regular for the Premier League side at various youth levels.

He was handed his first professional contract by the Hammers in June last year but wasn’t able to make the tough step up into the first-team picture.

His move to Colchester now gives him an opportunity to make a name for himself in the Football League. They are currently 22nd in the fourth tier.
