Former Chelsea and Norwich striker Chris Sutton has suggested the outcome of Fulham’s trip to West Ham could depend on Aleksandar Mitrovic’s fitness.

The striker has been key to the Cottagers’ impressive start to the season, scoring six goals in his first eight matches.

However, Mitrovic was forced off with an ankle injury in Fulham’s clash with Newcastle United and could miss out on this weekend’s trip to the London Stadium.

Writing in his BBC Sport column, Sutton said: “West Ham got over the line against Wolves last week with a much-needed win, after Jarrod Bowen got off the mark with his first league goal of the season.

“The Hammers may have a bit of momentum now, but this is where we will find out.

As for Fulham, what kind of threat they pose will depend on whether Aleksandar Mitrovic is fit.”

Meanwhile, former Arsenal ace Paul Merson has also claimed the result will depend on the Serbian’s availability.

Speaking to sportskeeda, Merson said: “The result of this game will depend on Aleksandar Mitrovic’s fitness.

“I fancy West Ham to win this one as they look to climb the Premier League table after an underwhelming start to the season.”

Victory for West Ham would be only their third of the campaign but could see them move up towards mid-table, while Fulham could earn themselves a spot in the top six.
