David Moyes’ side needed that win and have risen up to 15th in the league table.

They have now picked up seven points from their opening eight matches.

‘Brilliant’...

Rice spoke after the game about who impressed him, as per the club’s official website:

“Tomáš was brilliant. He will always give you 100 per cent. He’ll come off the pitch with nothing left. He works his socks off and makes my life easier.

“That’s what we need, a team of eleven players who give their all and I think we’ve done that today.”

He added:

“Daws as well coming back in his first Premier League game this season didn’t look out of place. He brings that solidity, heart, and desire. Jarrod (Bowen) is back amongst the goals which will do a lot of good for his confidence.”

West Ham are back in action on Thursday night away at Anderlecht in the Europa League.

They then have a home clash against Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday and will be eager to make it back-to-back wins.

Soucek has made 11 appearances in all competitions already this term and has chipped in with two goals and is well on the way to beating his tally of six from the last campaign.

Dawson was actually linked with a move away over the summer and his calmness at the back certainly helped his side beat Wolves.
