West Ham United star Michail Antonio has admitted to ignoring Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson for a week after the Magpies defeated the Hammers at the London Stadium.

It was a night to forget for Antonio and his colleagues as a comedy of errors helped Newcastle score five against David Moyes' side.

Wilson grabbed a brace in the game, to make it 12 goals in his 13 career appearances against West Ham, and celebrated one of them in style by dancing the macarena in front of the travelling fans.

The celebration became the talking topic of the night as pundits and football fans online chuckled at the Magpies man's moves which came after a chat between Wilson and Antonio on the BBC Sounds' Footballer's Football Podcast.

The two strikers and friends host the show which is always filled with friendly banter. In last week's episode, Antonio dared Wilson to do the macarena in front of him should he score again against West Ham.

The Newcastle man happily obliged when he seemingly inevitably ended up on the score sheet but it was a joke that Antonio didn't find so funny in reality.

Speaking on this week's episode of the podcast, Antonio admitted that Wilson had tried to message him on a number of platforms after the match but he ignored every attempt at contact.

Antonio said: "I'm never going to bet with this guy. Whenever he plays against us it's a thing.

"We went to pot, it was embarrassing. The second half, man just gets a treat.

"I couldn't speak to this guy. He was sending me messages, tagging me on Instagram, I could not speak to this boy at all. I was fuming.

"I can't laugh on the pitch. I was five yards behind him when he scored but he wheeled off in the other direction. I thought he had the best opportunity to celebrate in my face."

Wilson was unsurprisingly in higher spirits about the macarena celebration and Newcastle's fortunes at the London Stadium.

He kicked off the podcast with a quick gloat in his first meeting with Antonio since the 5-1 defeat.

Wilson said: "Brace in your face! There was only one person going to be doing the macarena.

"Michail gives it all talk but never walks the walk, I had to do it for the podcast for the fans who didn't get to see it at St James' Park because he ran away and stood next to his daddy.

"I actually said I was going to do it in his face but I got caught up in the moment wheeling away and didn't know where he is. It was a funny moment and obviously, I've got moves."
